Even Victory, the most edgy UC entry, didn't treat kid pilots as disposable, to the point that it produces no reaction from the characters or directing. Kids definitely do die all the time in UC, but there's always some statement rather than something that just happens. Only IBO gets close to treating kid pilots as disposable, but it made kids fighting and dying in war is the central theme of its tragedy and pervades everything, whereas Gqux acts like a kid did not get vaporized.
