Roughly 200 years later, in ~200BC, the Cimbri appear in the historical record. They were thought by ancient historians such as Strabo to have been the same people as the Cimmerians. This hypothesis is supported by Cimbrian artifacts such as the Gundestrup Cauldron containing Thracian silverwork, in what is today Denmark.

The Cimbri lived side-by-side with the Teutones. These two tribes formed the bulk of the Germania that the Romans knew and fought.
