I've rolled out VPN blocking. I don't think it's very effective desu. I expect sign-ups from bots to decrease by maybe 20%. The trouble is that it's hard to block IPv6 addresses. I can disable IPv6 altogether on the server but it breaks the the iOS app. Apple mandates IPv6 support for iOS apps.
Among users in general, only about 0.7% users who are signing up or signing in should be blocked. Users who are already signed in won't be logged out for using a VPN.
