The facility you're in is in the middle of an empty desert somewhere in New Mexico. He's been able to sneak to the surface once or twice but he saw nothing but sand for miles. Only way in or out is if you can steal a high-ranking researcher's or an ETF squad leader's vehicle.

As for the facility itself? It's underground with seven layers, each layer getting than the last. An upside down cone with the sixth floor as the base. Correlates with the sixth ranks in the facility's hierarchy - 0 to 6.
Oh. You're REALLY at the bottom, then. "Yeesh. So, what layer are we on?"
The exact layout seems to shift every few years but for now, he says you're on Layer 2. And yes, most of them are as poorly maintained as your lab.

"Wait, how do you know how bad my lab was?"
Hazing ritual, he chuckles under his breath. They pick a lab where someone died in and they throw Level 0s at it.
"I thought so. Wait, wait, Anthony said he was here for 30 years...and that this facility is 100 years old?"

The A.R.C, the Man says, is just the newest name for this branch of the government. The exact details evade him but the US government has known about anomalies for a WHILE. This apparently used to be for a independently backed anomaly research group but they disappeared a while ago.

"Right. Any points you can give me about the layout? This place is built like a maze."
The Man nods. He tells you he leaves maps and caches for himself around the facility. As a freebie, he tells you the location of one map and cache - There's a washroom down the leftmost hallway out of this cafeteria. Check the third stall in the men's bathroom.

"Last thing, what's up with the ranks?"
He doesn't know the exact details but the basics are this: The higher you go, the more freedom you're given in terms of your job and what equipment you can get from the company catalogs. They raise your rank depending on your performance and how profitable your work is but don't expect any promotions any time soon.

They also get better privileges. Like edible food. And decent living spaces. And actual salaries.
"Great. Can't imagine how good my prison cell of a bedroom is going to be."
The Man's face softens. It's more like an army barracks situation for Level 0s. He apologizes for your inevitable poor sleep tonight.

Damnit. Alright, alright, well. At least you got a rough idea of where you're at and how the facility is shaped.
"One last question. Do you got any useful rumors?"

The Man hesitates to answer a fourth question but he's clearly having fun talking to someone who can hear him. He tells you two pieces of information he has heard over the grapevine.

One: He's not the only one who has slipped through the gaps of Upper Management. The excessive amount of anomalous items and phenomena contained in the facility has created small gaps in reality that tend to pop up in abandoned, forgotten places across the Facility.
