That is wrong. There are 2 ways to use "the force", a positive and a negative. The "light side" can be used for healing, breaking curses, exorcising spirits and such. The "dark side" is used to attack and manipulate people, gain wealth and power etc.
Using the force of light is not a sin. It has it's source in the realm of light (heaven) and can be used by spiritual people of all traditions.
