Without bias? And no trolling? It was an okay "oblivion with guns" type of game that scratched the itch of "oblivion but with guns". The graphics are ugly but serviceable, the gunplay was barely useable, the quests were uninspired, the worldbuilding was cartoonish when existent, and the RPGs mechanics were barely present. Fallout 1 and 2 fans expected better from the franchise, and I understand that giving how middling it objectively is, but for me it worked.
I think a lot of the discourse around Fallout 3 nowadays is similar to the discourse around Dark Souls 2: a lot of trolling, and childish, insecure people unable to make the distinction between "I had fun" and "this game is objectively good".
