>“What is this, a trial?” You roll your eyes as the Four Sages hurl their accusations at you. “I am not an enemy of Morfis. If you have any doubts about that, I have many that can vouch for my credibility. Perhaps you should start by speaking with Adjunct Alvin, Governor Tobias of Hima, or the surviving mages of Ithaca?”
“Ahh yes, the mages of Ithaca.” Nicon laughs. “A group so trustworthy that one of their own stole pertinent research and deactivated the Djinn Orb, allowing the Riahi to commence their slaughter. I’m sure if we can pull the survivors away from their important research regarding the sleeping patterns of Terrors, they will serve as a great reference.”
“Governor Tobias.” Chryson sneers, the scar on his face twisting up. “He let a group of Cultists simply walk away following Hima’s victory against their forces. He had the perfect chance to put an end to a large swath of those insects and claim the Spear of Chulainn, but did not do so. The way I understand it, the reason he held his hand was because you assured him they were ‘harmless’ and following your orders. He must be made to answer for his failure in due time.”
“Adjunct Alvin…” Dexithea says, unpleased at the mention of the man’s name. “He made you aware of the Agarthium that he carried in his possession. He did this despite knowing the great importance of that object, and the secrecy that was required. That he would do something so incredibly foolish speaks volumes of his judgment. We cannot ignore his actions.”
>“So what?!” You retort. “That ‘Agarthium’ wasn’t even yours to begin with! You got it by digging up old trash in MY territory!”
“You left one of the greatest treasures of humanity, perhaps the key to Morfis’ future, rotting in an abandoned mine that you people blew up during your petty war.” Nicon says, shaking his head as if stunned. “Don’t get mad at us for taking back what is rightfully ours.”
“Your actions greatly perplex us, Tristain d’Rusalka.” Lycus says, staring down at you like a judge would a criminal. “While you have caused great harm in your time here, we can admit that you have also performed some good. We recognize that you did save Ithaca from complete eradication. Had you not saved the mages, it is possible that Terrors would have escaped the Keep into the desert. And your actions against the Consortium in Shangri-La allowed a Yasha to bring justice to a rogue mage. As well as giving us the ability to apprehend the head of the Consortium, Patros.”
“Although Adjunct Targa is still missing…” Chryson adds. “He never came back to Morfis. I don’t suppose you had something to do with that, did you?”
>“That green-haired bastard? Beats me. I’d have throttled that guy if given the chance. And did you just say you’ve captured Patros? Because if so, then I’m sure you’re aware of who he thinks put him up to that business with Andreas.”
