That's every single human being, more or less. Do you genuinely believe yourself to be incapable of weakness, desperation, and stupidity? Don't be hubristic. Science doesn't help you when you can't access your frontal lobe. Religion is what people fall back on when they're not in a position to think and act rationally. Religion is that which unites people around a shared dream and facilitates their joint pursuit of it. It's no coincidence that every country that ever developed science was religious. Not because their particular religion is correct, it's because the required peace & prosperity for a society to develop science is contingent on them having a decent religion that holds their society together.
