Only get a vita if you like visual novels and jrpgs, or you REALLY want to play the few exclusives it has (gravity rush, soul sacrifice and muramasa: rebirth. Even though I love the vita and still use mine, I would say just get a steam deck unless you're on a budget.

still the goat of handheld consoles and still worth buying today because 3DS emulation still isn't great for some games and 2 screens on a single monitor just doesn't look that good. Fantastic library since you can natively play DS and GBA games. Only problem is they're getting more and more expensive as time goes on.
>hacking
both are easy as fuck to hack. 3DS has a more active homebrew scene and a better selection of utility apps.
