If you already know how to draw normally, avoid all tutorials and pixel art made by actual professionals. The problem with the pixel art community is that it's really insular, and most don't actually draw outside pixel art. That's why they came up with such dumb terms that aren't really used anywhere else like "hue-shifting". You don't want to learn from them.
Professional pixel artists from the golden age could actually draw outside their specialized medium, and actually knew their theory.
