IT'S NOT JUST AESTHETICS YOU SIMPLETONS
"Genshin" simply doesn't exist in Chinese phonetics, but very much does in Japanese (it's actually the name of an actual medieval Japanese Buddhist monk, for instance).
The same goes for "Honkai". The same goes for "Nikke", etc. None of these are Chinese or Korean and clearly are instead deliberately chosen to sound Japanese. "Mohoyo" itself and its awkward slogan "Otakus save the world" are the same, while its staff poses in photos in their Beijing office with the communist flag. It's quite literally exploiting more or less deceptively another country's cachet for your benefit, counting on the average gamer's ignorance and lack of discernment of anything at all.
By the way you can see this trend in Chinese marketing all the time, just to cite one among many see the case of now globally present Miniso (name taken from Daiso and logo lifted from Uniqlo) where they even invented a whole backstory of a Japanese founder who later turned out to be completely invented from thin air.
