In mysticism, an obelisk is the same as a "magic wand". They represent a phallus. Why a phallus? Penises are the "creative force" in mysticism, they exude (ejaculate) energy into the world, allowing the caster to impregnate reality with their will. A wand is typically used by an individual, whereas something as big as an obelisk is representative of an entire nation, or of an extremely powerful person (pharaoh, pope, king, president, etc).
The Egyptians were pretty honest about the function and laws of mysticism in their writings, probably because they never thought peasants (ie us) would be able to study and decipher it. Having a good afterlife was something for the elite class, and it took a lot of resources and study. Freemasons know this, and that's probably why they built one here. The Vatican knows this, and so VC imported an obelisk from Egypt. You can find "phallus" symbols like this everywhere in mysticism across the world, because no matter where you go on Earth the "rules" are the same.
