I think he looks in line with the spirit of old characters's designs. He has some of his signature moves (body slam, the spin, digging underground from crash 2), and the rest are grabs and hits that look right for the character just like how Mario was made in that game. I didn't notice if he has the slide (if he doesn't, he should, that should've been an easy move to add).
I mean what else should crash do in this game in particular? If you start pulling from the rest of his moves you'd make him look more like a modern smash character rather than an N64 one (with stuff like forward B riding his bike/kart like wario changing his costume for the animation or b to shoot with the fruit bazooka). That would look a little bit too wacky for a N64 type of iteration. Of course you're missing on a ton of actions crash does in his games but in terms of raw movement he doesn't really have "that much" about him.
At most I would've maybe added a small mechanic using aku aku for this type of mod.
What would you have preferred?
