Updating it beyond the manufacturer's support stop year comes down to whether it has a locked bootloader right? because it makes no sense to me when the phone as hardware looks like the note 9 for example, overall, but then the note 9's were locked so I won't buy another.
Also it's annoying there are so many different price points that go up and down, like just give me a phone with a stylus that's update-able even if I need to flash it with my computer or whatever, geeze
