Another day another true bill.
And that's a wrap. Exempted from being a juror for seven years. Pretty quick last couple of cases, extended by like 30 extra minutes because the TV displays for exhibits didn't want to work today.
First was some drunk driver who got caught pissing on the highway guardrail and had pled guilty to DWI before, open-shut true bill for aggravated DWI.
The second though… it was like something out of a blaxsploitation film. A stereotypical sheboon single mother of three by different fathers came in wearing leopard-pattern sweatpants, told us her name was, I shit you not, Ebony Fails. Randomly accosted when coming home by some schizo in her neighborhood who was picking through her trashcan. She felt the need to tell us she recognized him as a crossdresser totally unprompted, so I now feel the need to tell you in turn, lmao. He threw her to the ground and started punching and strangling her for no reason, left nasty scratch marks on her neck and bruised her knee and eye. Got stopped when one of her black gorilla housemates, who was just about to hop in the shower at the time, stepped out and told him to fuck off. Schizo got arrested when he came back to the house a few months later. True bill for assault, strangulation and harassment.
The last case was surreal but also aggravating, because the victim was, well, a stereotypical trashy 75-IQ sheboon who was treating her testimony like a casual conversation with the DA. Would interrupt and reply in the middle of questions, spoke way too quickly, quietly and unclearly, would sometimes answer nonverbally by just nodding or shaking her head, reacted incredulously and like she was mildly offended when he asked her "obvious" procedural questions for the sake of the case like "did the scratches cause you pain", etc. Kept doing all this shit despite the stenographer asking her to stop being a retard TWICE. Also the way she kept emphatically tilting her head all the time was... fucking weird.
And the whole time, I was just sitting there, silently suffering and internally muttering "nononononono don't laugh don't laugh don't laugh".
Well, that was definitely interesting. I'm glad I didn't ask to be excused just for the first case alone, but this was one… interesting way to wrap things up. Time to enjoy the rest of my month off before going back to work.
… so! How was your day chumbies?
