Heck I remember a "non-canon" comic, I think it was official, where Peter is upset that Spider UK suddenly became a black woman. This was in the middle of every Miles-Spidey interaction being Miles saying "I came up with the name so I own it!", then Peter saying "Yeah that's like okay, I support you 100%" or something and it was so tiring we couldn't move on in any version of Spider-man that I stopped buying.
And I also remember a much older comic which joked about Pete being replaced by a black because he stumbled onto a film set where they cast a black man as him.
