Do you know that as of now only about one percent of the Japanese people are Christian?

What is it about the Japanese national character that makes it so difficult to be evangelized? The attributes that come to mind when I ponder this are cruelty, barbarism and mindless conformity. Go study the war crimes of the Japanese imperial army in China during WW2. You can barely believe that humans are capable of such sadistic violence. Maybe the Holy Spirit cannot reach the Japanese because the Japanese man is an empty vessel - a heartless savage with no soul?
