Imo this is more different kinds of Yuri stories being made and getting the attention of more audiences and writers, but regardless I think trying to delineate genres to a gender is a waste of time (and schizo bait to boot). There's nothing wrong with boys love and wuxia getting copted by female audiences even though their roots were in what was mostly thought of as male directed things, and it shouldn't matter for Yuri either.
