Japan regularly lied about the number of casualties it inflicted on enemy forces, during one of the Tokyo air raids they claimed they shot down 31 planes and damaged 80 planes when the real number was only 2 shot down (and 5 others lost to mechanical failure) and 51 damaged.

The Thai only lost 42 dead military men while the Japanese humiliatingly suffered more dead against a technologically inferior and numerically inferior force, 115 dead by the Japanese own count, while the Thai say at least over 200 or even 400 Japanese were killed and the Japanese cremated them to hide the number.
