I think I'd get along with Gio's pokemon fairly well, but we wouldn't be super close. I imagine that being TR mons, they'd have a reasonable distrust of humans. Gio wouldn't abuse them as he needs them to perform well in battle (he has lines in mastersex equating the MC's love and care for their pokemon to him "maintaining his tools"), but he'd be strict, and they'd see firsthand how TR treats pokemon that aren't as lucky as to belong to the boss. Despite this, I'd try to play with and spoil them, and they'd probably start to relax around me a little. They'd definitely be more spoiled by me than Gio, though I do think he'd occasionally be kind to them. Gio would probably scold me for being too lax with his mons, but then turn around and bring them to me after a harsh battle or training session since he knows I'll take good care of them.
I like to imagine that, despite joining TR, I'd still have a love for pokemon. But I'd have twisted morals and believe that Gio's wishes come above all else, and that it's an honour for one—human or pokemon—to suffer for his sake. I'd be cruel to mons if the mission called for it, but otherwise I'd baby any mons I'm around.
We'd definitely train together and battle often. Above all else, Gio likes those who are strong, so even though I don't care much for battles, I'd want to regularly prove my strength to him to ensure he never loses interest in me. I'd also use these training sessions to gain info on him and how he battles. I'd acknowledge that I'm most likely just a tool in his eyes to be disposed of once I'm no longer useful, so I'd want to prepare to take him down in battle if he ever has the audacity to try and get rid of me. Due to this, I'd probably purposely hold back in any training sessions, and have a water/ice mon I keep hidden from him, specifically to take down his ground types. If he ever tried to get rid of me, I'd go full yandere, take him down in battle, and ensure that he can never escape me.
