outrun is the aesthetic with all the neon grids, 80s sports cars, digital sunrises, and sometimes city skylines
it is extremely closely related to the synthwave/retrowave music genre
vaporwave is a bit more nebulous but is dreamier and incorporates greek marble statues/columns, 90s windows graphics/UI elements, japanese katakana, and more abstract and surreal elements
the two are related and there is some overlap, but there's still a difference (to me, at least)
