“Alright, so what's really going on?” you think to Joseph, the old man giving you the side eye. “Why are you pretending to be going senile?”
“Well. Remember what Jotaro and I told you about before? About how I had a kid I didn't know about?” he replies after several seconds and a long, weary sigh. “I told the wife about him, and she was furious. The angriest I've ever seen her in over fifty years of marriage. Our home became a warzone, with my Suzi Q constantly furious with me despite my apologies. And so, to get my home back to some semblance of order, I began faking Dementia.”

“Dementia?” you ask, puzzled. “What do you mean? What's Dementia?”
“A catch-all term for what happens to the elderly of our race. Our mental faculties begin to slip, thinking loses its edge, memories disappear or become fuzzy, basically when the brain starts to fail before the brawn.” he tells you as you shudder. You can imagine no worse fate than your mind starting to break down, being unable to recognize those you love, your mind deteriorating. And suddenly wonder if your old man had started feeling the same way, but never admitted to it? “ But by faking having a serious mental illness, my wife's wrath subsided and she started trying to take care of my apparent declining state. She was furious, but she's a good woman and wouldn't just watch someone suffer if she could help. And despite her anger at my betrayal, she still loves me, deep down.”

As he tells you this, his eyes suddenly go very far away. Perhaps to the past, or maybe to the night he'd betrayed his wife. But wherever he goes, he's only there for a moment real-time before turning back to you with a genuine smile.

“So, if acting a fool, pretending to be losing my mental faculties is the price I have to pay for a happy home, then so be it.” he continues, you seeing his resolve harden in his eyes. “I have no pride to defend, no shame for acting a fool for the sake of my wife and our marriage, to spend the rest of her days not angry. Our actions always have consequences, prices we must pay. And I made my mistakes, time to pay the piper as it were.”

As he tells you this he looks down to his gloved left, where his robotic limb lay concealed. A moment of silence hangs between you both, before the young girl, Cesha rushes to him, hugging old man Joestar.

“Thank you. Thank you for telling me what my friend can do.” she says, voice so filled with genuine joy and gratitude.
“It's no problem.” Joseph says with a laugh, reaching down and rubbing her head between the two horns. “Now, you be a good girl, okay?”
“I will. I promise.” she says, her Stand's eye stalk nodding along with her movements. “You be safe too!”
