A different kind of a background pony in,
>/FSBC/

I haven't finished the last chapter, but I've read enough to write a post, and I'm already late.
This is a nice fic. I will have to think about it for more than five seconds to write a better post (next week, hopefully, though I'm aware I've been kind of rushing these out for a few bookclubs now), but above all else I'm getting a clear feeling of all this being written intentionally and with the full story already planned out. The writing is good—both on the broad, story-planning level and on the technical level. We can also tell that the writer considers himself a Writer because we get Worldbuilding for Equestria, ha. When alternate weekday names show up, you know what you're in for.

Those are just my first impressions, but I liked how well-defined and clear the emotions and the mood conveyed by each chapter were. The feeling of loss, forgetfulness, and the grief in the first chapter and the "fog" used there was particularly good, making it look like a dream or a nightmare scenario, but then the sweet romance of Rose and Post contrasted it really nicely, and chapter 4's desire was evocative, too. Maybe a little too much, ha ha. I do want to learn more about Ponk, which may be what chapter 5 is about, in which case... oh well.
Back to the worldbuilding, this story has a pretty heavy worldbuilding element for something tagged SoL-Sad-Romance. From the names of the days of the week and what happens on them, to the hints of a Princess-worship (or at least a tradition of Princess-reverence), and the sex festival from chapter 4. Which, uh, despite the writer's best attempts at making it feel like a part of the world, still fell a little outside my comfortable range for Equestria. This setting does feel like its own place; not just Earth with a thin coat of paint.

I also read Maize two days ago, but I haven't able to post anything about it yet! I'll try to do that right away!

Next week we're finishing this fic.
