I honestly don't even know if Iran is going to retaliate symbolically but I'm old enough to remember 2020 when Iran only did token retaliation to satisfy their people and I remember earlier years when we worked with Hezbollah and other groups to let them have token retaliations to appease their own internal warhawks and avoid conflict. Keeping this stuff contained is transactional diplomacy and we have quite a good record of it with Trump. You just lived through 4 years of Bidet (and I guess a few months of the global ceasefire during COVID) and forgot.
