The best point I can make is that Etruscans held Rome by the balls, in the same way Israel holds US.

They were running circles around them, it is likely their important families had an entire parallel society, including a secret religion.

I am not sure if they were the ones that named (or better renamed) the city, giving it the entire secret sacred word thing, but I would not be surprised, they were quite briliant and twisted, especially in their mysticism.

The reason i believe that they knew the real name is because the "sacred perimeter" of Rome, the pomerium was formalized during Tarquinius.
