Man, I could talk for hours about how this game was supposed to save the genre but just ended up ruining everything thanks to greedy shitdevs who couldn't stop making greedy shit decisions.
I actually stopped my queue to sit here and think about this. With BDO, we finally had:
>a full world with no loading screens, and dozens of reasons to exist outside in it
>untold amounts of systems that interacted with each other, making everything feel like it had meaning, and everything you were doing felt like it was "progressing" towards something
>no limits on how much progress you could make in a day, no hard caps, no weekly cutoffs, just however long you wanted to keep going
>all those bullshit early promises of no p2w because the game was gonna be b2p (which they went back on in literally the first 3 days)
>no teleporting or fast travel (at first, FUCK), so everyone's on the road and the roads are busy and player bandits are a thing
>trade routes exist, farming exists, crafting exists, sea exploration exists, there are monsters at sea and you can hunt them
>guilds have a purpose, and when one of your guildmates is murdered in the world it alerts everyone and you can track the killer and exact vengeance
>guild wars are a thing and happen often; there's a reason to gear up and help your bros

they ruined everything
