Being extremely bigoted and intolerant of different views does not necessarily make it a cult. But yes, it is also a cult. Leftists tend to isolate themselves, they are extremely intolerant of heretics, and there are severe consequences for apostasy. The only thing it's missing is a charimastic cult leader, but that's hardly a necessary part of cult-like behaviour.
