They lack compassion, they have main-character-syndrom, machiavellianism ... there are a hundred different terms for that specific set of negative traits, that you see in people with mental illness who go the drug-way.

At the end of the day, they are simply mentally fried.
They aren't completely numb, because they can still feel one emotion: Hate. And this just makes it worse.
An actual emotionally numb apathetic person can still have values of morals and ethnics. They can't.
They can pretend to have moral values, which we call virtue signaling. It is how lunacy like >>105934049 happens. But it's all fake, it makes no sense and seems hypocritical, and serves the only purpose to hate more.

People who are miserable and not ready to fix themselves, want others to be miserable as well <- this is yet another consideration, out of those many, you can apply here.
There are many reasons why they are the way they are. None of them is good, so they wont admit even a single one.
