Scaling in modelkit production is technically down sizing. In spite of having different scale, 1/35 tank and 1/144 gunpla have similar respective length and volume. They provide similar level of challenge in modeling, though it is not an objective fact, weathering for gunpla can sometimes easier due to 1: It is a science fiction design not based on real world machines, modelers can have alot of freedom in decoration, kitbashing and weathering and 2: Gunpla models don't have many small and fragile details and structure compares to 1/35 tank models due to advance and modern engineering, injection molding technology, making the weathering process to be rather easy.
