TOW clearly cooler. If they insist on wanting CADtastic over-detailed minis, they can use many AoS minis on square bases for old world like pic related. Or there's 3d printing so you can get any style of mini you want. Be advised though, if your friends are approaching this from a "cool minis for arts and crafts" perspective, there is a distinct possibility that the TOW rules will be too much for them and their interest in the game will fizzle out after one or two half-played matches. You may have better luck doing AoS with them, picking an army that works in old world too, and getting square base adapters for your round based minis, to take to an existing local TOW group.
