an ammo switching pistol would need a more robust ammo/magazines tracking system and they simply dont have that in them to program. they already cheat by making the RR/Airburst/AC have “programmable” ammo which is just magically changing what the payload is withour actually needing to track ammo types.
If they did put in a different ammo tracking system they’d need to find a way to properly handle reloading different round types (said hypothetical sidearm maybe does it quickly and automatically) and also decide what to do about POIs and supply boxes (POIs maybe give standard magazines, supply boxes refill everything)
