One way the US stands out from Singapore is that they've got like hundreds of different ethnicities and cultures, while Singapore only has 3-4 major ones (Chinese, Malay, Indian, other).
They also literally have affirmative action for public housing (which over half the population lives in, and is not considered substandard in Singapore), in which communities maintain race quotas in order to enforce race-mixing and prevent the formation of enclaves.
They even did away with trial by jury since with ethnic blocs, Lee Kuan Yew recognized they wouldn't ever be fair (rightfully I think)
Overall interesting country that there probably won't ever be another of
---
Could the US try something similar?
I suppose it could be done by race, but our race categories are hilariously static and artificial, and do an incredibly poor job of reflecting reality (not to mention 2-dimensional with the "Hispanic" clusterfuck, and don't even get me started on how Jews and Muslims are also considered "white", or S vs SE vs E Asians, or how "Black" = descendants of slaves + educated Nigerians + descendants or refugees like Omar, etc.)
Like for example imagine you're in charge of settling the currently uninhabited Santa Catalina Island (near Los Angeles) and you want to maintain a utopian racial harmony. Like Lee Kuan Yew, you're an omnipotent dictator. WWYD?

>ethnic voting blocs
What's funny is that this is literally the reason why Singapore doesn't have trial by jury
Because it wouldn't work fairly due to this very sort of racial / ethnic alliance
