Oh you know, scifi stuff. Energy blasts, mindreading, making peoples' heads explode. All very unforeseen consequences of experiments that didn't quite know what they were messing with. She's in a very early stage of turning into the same kind of thing as the eternal being.

Not really. It simply has limitations that it's goal takes a very long time to accomplish. I haven't quite worked it out, but defeating it will involve the test subject and likely not be with a fight but something it agrees to.
