I don't avoid it that religiously in weeb media either, at least when it comes to anime or VNs (there's just way too much manga and LNs for me to read anything that's not laser targeted to my tastes). Generally speaking I don't consume things that are primarily het romance, but if it's e.g. good sci-fi then I don't care regardless of medium. I'm also big on tokusatsu for decades now, and yuri there is sadly a very, very rare guest.
I do almost religiously refuse playing video games with male protagonists though. Not sure why it's specifically video games where it irks me the most. Super Robot Wars is a rare exception.
