Literally yes, they were Slavs.

Slavs bred like fucking rabbits up to this point, so much so they ate up half of Europe.

You had the western slavs (Poles, Czechs, Slovaks, Sorbs)

You had the southern Slavs/Yugoslavs (Serbs, Catholic serbs, Mudslime serbs, Gay serbs, Turbo gay serbs, Bulgarians)

And then the eastern slavs, (Russians, Byelorussians, (((you))) )

Thing is, slavs expanded in every direction, not just west, what prevented them from expanding furthermore eastwards? Such as with Perm?
