If you want something that doesn't feel like a mobile game I would suggest 3U and earlier. If you like oldschool PS2 graphics I would suggest the PSP port of Monster hunter 1 emulated on PPSSPP. Then work your way up since you can import your saves to the next title. Honestly the best MonHun one can get.
You also bescome immune to all the commmunity bickering around recent releases and naturally end up talking to people who actually enjoy the ideas of the series and don't just chase trends.
