Giovanni picked me out without actually having any influence over the decision. It was done for me. I don't know whether my family had Giovanni connections prior, but I'm positive that overtime I displayed qualities that the Giovanni were very in line with. Also, I think that if you even have the ability to choose, that you're not an actual vampire nor have any qualities that vampires would find useful. Usually you are picked, rather than the other way around. Probably larping, though.
