Lviv Suffers 'Largest Drone Attack' of War, Damaging Homes, University, and Kindergarten

Russian forces launched what local officials are calling the most extensive drone attack on the western Ukrainian city of Lviv since the start of the full-scale invasion. The massive overnight assault on July 12 injured at least 12 people, including two children, and caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure across the city.
Explosions rocked several districts as dozens of drones targeted the region between 3:00 and 5:00 AM. Mayor Andriy Sadovyi stated that while there were no fatalities, thanks to residents taking refuge in shelters, the attack left a trail of destruction. Hits were confirmed on Mytropolyta Andreya and Oleny Stepanivny streets. A two-story residential building's entrance was partially destroyed, causing gas and water leaks.
The attack damaged 51 residential buildings, containing 528 apartments, and shattered windows in numerous others. A kindergarten, academic buildings of the Lviv Polytechnic National University, two industrial facilities, and at least 21 business premises also sustained damage. Debris and shockwaves damaged dozens of cars.
In the city's Zaliznychnyi district, a fire broke out on the roof of a non-residential building, covering an area of 200 square meters. The city's public transport was also affected, with damage to the overhead power lines for trolleybuses, disrupting several routes.
Of the 12 people injured, three were hospitalized, while nine received medical attention at the scene. Authorities have arranged temporary hotel accommodation for six families whose homes were rendered uninhabitable. Mayor Sadovyi praised residents for heeding air raid sirens, stating that their presence in shelters saved lives.
