tbf Ai has a horrible first impression and Kawakami is a bit too real of a character for an anime JRPG at times. Most people playing something like Persona want to get a fantasy girl, not someone that sounds like a coworker. Kind of like how you'll find a lot of people that aren't fans of Yukari because she talked and acted more like an actual high schooler than an anime schoolgirl.
