You say that, and yet there is a distinct lack of Hanya cumflating Xueyi with powerful surges from her pulsing cantaloupe sized balles through her 18 inch horsecock bitch-breaker.

The world-building of HSR is about an inter-galactic civilization of planets and colonies beyond count, with tales describing a rich history and untold wonders spanning thousands of years. Even though the visible sum total of that has been

there is at least a whisper of a broader world there.
So basically in ZZZ there is ONE city, and like two dozen zones of hell where if you walk inside you die unless you're an anime protagonist. At the borders of this city is the Black Wall which is unexplained at this point but fundamentally the entire rest of the world does not exist.
Somehow New Eridu, despite being surrounded by slowly expanding HELL POCKETS is stable enough in it's agriculture, clean drinking water, plumbing, economy, military industrial complex etc that they are enjoying a mid-80's america level of comfortable standard of living, with most individuals within the city enjoying relatively low-profit hobby craftworks like vinyl record sales as a profession. I won't bust their ass on having electrical infrastructure though because on the pillars which make electricity out of the holows.
Also despite being 30 years out from the apocalypse and 11 years out from a double apocalypse, people have been fucking like crazy because about half of the people in New Eirdu appear to be high school students, which implies that high schools are still being run despite... y'know... the fact that everyone is trapped in like 50 square miles of territory and there is no arable farm land and the universe-annihilating bubbles on the horizon grow larger every day.
I'm pretty sure you're not meant to take it seriously.

The time of day system feels really poorly implemented in the new players experience right now. I know a lot has changed so this might not be what you experienced.
Basically the time of day mechanic never turns on because the game will put you into immersive story telling anytime you do literally anything related to the main quest and will not turn itself off until you progress to a certain point. Once it gives you free reign you get, like, 2 activities "at your own pace" before it triggers automatically into the next story event whether you want it to or not. You can still go and do the optional content if it's not related to meeting a specific person at a specific time of day but it may occasionally slap the controller out of your hand and start the story back up against your will.
Oh yeah and this also leads to progression issues. Yesterday I hit the proxy level to be able to rank up my world level or whatever but I couldn't actually do the rank up quest because even though it's literally just a VR mission at HIA, I needed to have a DM conversation with Shepard first. The Schedule told me to check my DM's and my DM's directed me to check my schedule, leading to an infinite loop that only resolved itself once I finished the current main story quest chain and then went into the HDD and backed out without actually doing a mission 3-4 times in order to trigger and then clear all my currently pending incoming DM conversations.
I'm sure it's much more organic at the end-game but considering it's taken me all week to get the ability to step inside Bardic Needle, this game is kinda choking on it's story's structure in my opnion.

The average hoyoverse fan has been forced to, over a 10 month period, go from staunchly supporting union rights and the VA's right to lobby for better conditions, to admitting that the union that most hoyoverse actors belong to is asserting monopoly behavior and abusing and exploiting it's own beneficiaries.
I don't know how much this whole debacle has been affecting ZZZ, I can go into more detail if needed

The moment I realized that Aventurine had a lengthy back-story dump followed immediately by a lengthy death scene with a death speech only for him to just be alive two months later with no real explanation was the point that I realized the story was not worth paying attention to. And since the gameplay can mostly be automated and has balance problems, the story is kind of all that there was.
Now, the whole thing with Aventurine might not have been that bad, except that it was the third time that they did it in a row. They did it once per patch for three patches. You should really only use a death fake-out once per game or in this circumstance, once per "expansion".
