>“Very well, you have yourself a deal. I’ll find this Gyles and bring you back the Ichor Scroll. In exchange you will lend me The Inexhaustible.” You should have figured that he wouldn’t just hand it over. The Inexhaustible was a one of a kind weapon. Even without the corresponding Crest, it would still rank amongst the greatest bows ever made. Something similar could probably be said about this Ichor Scroll. Gyles may not have had the correct Crest, but being capable of using the tome was probably more than enough.

“I appreciate your confidence, but don’t go overboard.” Cyril says. “I’ve also tasked Arios with bringing Gyles to justice. Should the matter prove too much for you, I’m sure he can handle it.”

>“Heh, is that supposed to be a joke?”

Cyril smirks, perhaps somewhat uncharacteristically from what you’d seen of the man so far. “I’m well aware of the bad blood between the two of you. I’ve encouraged him to do his best to put it aside for the duration of this contest, and I would do the same for you as well. The two of you are amongst Fodlan’s best and brightest, and we don’t need you killing each other. Keep sight of the goal in mind and compete honorably.”

>“Bad blood? Pfft, that’s all one-sided on his end. So long as Arios doesn’t get in my way, he won’t have to worry about a thing.” You cross your fingers behind your back. In truth, you didn’t really mind Arios’ grudge. In fact, a part of you welcomed it. ‘The Thunderstrike’ was considered by many to be the finest paladin in all Fodlan. A duel with him would be right up your alley. One way or another, you knew the two of you would fight before all was said and done.

“If you say so.” Cyril shrugs. “Best of luck to you, Tristain d’Rusalka. May the Goddess watch over you.”

As you make your way downstairs to reunite with the rest of your companions, you find that someone else has joined them. It was the same knight in purple armor with ridiculous hair that you’d seen earlier. He’d left the company of the women he was with and was now in the process of cornering May and Adeline. As you draw nearer, you can make out their conversation.

“My ladies, has that man harmed you in any way?” The knight mutters. “Or perhaps clouded your mind with some sort of dark magic? I shudder to think of what horrors you may have survived in his presence, but you need not fear. I shall not let him harm you any further.”

“Uhh…I don’t think I’m clouded?” May says, unsure, before turning to Adeline. “Are we?”

Adeline shakes her head. “No, I don’t believe so.”
