I think it's understandable why Pan never wanted to die, but she never contradicted herself in that scene. Pan never lied, infact she even got angry at Goku for not going all out on Naturon Shenron.

Pan is a victim of her uncle's temper tantrums, Videl's lack of understanding, Gohan's lacklusture attitude and Chichi's constant lectures.
