In ranking systems like War Thunder’s SR1, player performance is usually distributed along what's called a bell curve, or normal distribution. That means most players are grouped around the average performance level, and the further you move away from that average (especially toward the top) the fewer players you'll find. It gets exponentially harder to climb the higher you go.

So when you see a percentile like 99.69%, it might look like it’s just a tiny step away from 99.70%, but in reality, that last 0.01% can represent a huge difference in actual score and skill level. That’s because, at the very top of the bell curve, the space between players becomes incredibly tight. To move up even a tiny bit, you have to outperform a much smaller and more competitive group of players, the very best of the best.

In fact, moving from 70% to 80% might take less improvement than going from 99.69% to 99.70%, even though it seems like a much bigger leap on paper. That’s the effect of the curve: small percentile changes at the top mean a lot more than they do in the middle.

So while 99.69% seems close to perfection, it's still very much in the realm of elite performance, and improving beyond that becomes exponentially more difficult.
