i said this before but kai feels like they came up with the cliffhanger ending first and then everything else in the game was just made up to justify it and then just padded the game out with whatever low effort filler they could quickly cobble together because wow does the side content in this game feel so phoned in even for falcom. They went into this game with the malicious express intention of just stretching the assets as much as possible so they just end it on a cliffhanger to hype up the next game they had no intention of actually telling a story with Kai. Say what you will about cs3 but at least the game introduced a ton of new places and charcters so even though the plot didn't really start until the last 2 hours of the game it didn't feel nearly as bad as kai which has you spend 85% of the entire game in the same locations from kuro 1 and 2 doing absolutely nothing important. it really sucks to have to reevaluate this series because ive loved it for so many years but even i have to accept that falcom are just not putting the work in anymore.
