Very relatable, almost like reverse imposter syndrome right? That said, there's plenty of ways a dom can train you to his preferences or pull you deeper into submission if he wants to. If you get off on feeling yourself change under his domination, that's not invalidated just because he didn't break you in from the very beginning. Personally, I realized I was more of an imposter during all the years where I tried to hide it even though I knew deep down. Now I feel somewhat of a perverse pride in wearing my cage, obviously not from a sense of superiority but just satisfaction from fully embracing my submissive inferiority. If a guy sees my cage now it instantly becomes undeniably clear to him what my true nature is and where that places him in relation to myself. Which isn't to say I go around flashing my nub at random guys or anything but I think you'll understand what I'm trying to convey.
