An addendum; you'll find that once printed the tree supports separate off best if you use an elongated pry tool to apply lateral forces. So for example using your picture, I'd insert a long file down where the red lines are and then gently pry away from the model. It might take a bit of practice but in my experience it ended up being a night and day difference in both the effort of cleanup post-print and also how much effort it actually was to separate out my prints. It can get a little touch-and-go if you've got really thin parts but tree supports are even more likely to break those, I find.
