if you want to "generate income" then nothing will compell people to generate money for you if you do not have anything or you are willing to exchange too little for that work
the only ones that tried to work for compelling people to work for free were the religius people that came up with the story of Jesus to keep people working and with some loose promise that somehow in the afterlife they'd be chilling with some old dude and eating caviar (very conveniently in the afterlife so that realization can never be confirmed)
and the other one was communism that also leveraged guarantees on various layers, with stuff like "patriotism" or "comraderie" being some of the motivators, to keep people working on the cheap under the guise of the realization of promises in the future that rationally cannot even be predicted
they all just lead to sabotage, plunder and murder making it seem like it would have been better to just nuke the place and call it quits because in these places no brick can be placed on top of the other even many years after communism does not officially exist on paper anymore
