The idol shit is awful because there's no actual payoff to any of it.

Here's how I'd rewrite it to make it actually interesting.
First cut out all the boring shit about getting in contact with them but being unable to, skip to in front of the meat shop. It then reveals Anis's backstory to be her two fellow idols are actually humans. Anis was a human small time idol who stabbed to death by a stalker who leap on to the stage mid performance. Mustang covered it all up and secretly brough Anis back as a nikke sans memory wipe to continue performing like he did Mary. It's too much for the group to handle, in part because all three of them were pretty nikkephobic, and broke up after Anis crashed out. Anis went up to the surface to find death but was too scared to actually let herself die. No one knows what happened, no even Anis human family who are still around and looking for her. One last performance is code for tell everyone what happened to her publicly.
