One of his family members has some kind of hereditary illness that requires Arlo to provide stay-at-home care and he started this channel as a hobby, but then it started generating income and his quality of life improved. He's citing mental fatigue, but I vaguely remember his worst case scenario happened where he talked about it in one video that the hereditary illness he "thought" had skipped him was just being cheeky and taking its' time before it resurface - one of his breaks was him going to the hospital or the doctor or getting something removed. I think it's a kind of cancer.
His muppet tech, ?uncle?, the guy who literally made Arlo's puppet, also (relatively) recently just fucking died, so from what I understand his entire social group/support system is just crumbling away.
