That's not how old cameras work anon. The entire shot would be underexposed, including details, surroundings and it would not alter the skin color beyond wrinkles and shadows.
It's very clear in that pic that the Sami on the right are photographed around noon-ish. The shadows are beneath them, mostly localized under the chins and eyes. Similar in the Swedes pic, no elongated shadows or dark patches. Just a lot of pale surfaces reflecting extra light into the camera (both skin and fabric). But yet again, that would have no effect on the actual skin color of the subjects.
It's clear as day that the Sami on the right are far, FAR darker skin color wise than the left.
